Pilates is great for your physical and mental health. Mat, Chair and Zoom Pilates available to book to make Pilates accessible to as many people as possible. Free Pilates ball to all new customers booking a block of 4 as well as termly mini Zoom sessions for all regular clients.

Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is a great way to strengthen your whole body. I plan a program to work all the muscles in the body helping to improve your posture, strength, co-ordination and alignment. We will work through a combination of Joseph Pilates original 34 moves with a contemporary twist to keep up to date with current research. My aim is for you to feel amazing after every class. It is a great way to meet people and enjoy times with friends and family. Group and individual classes are available. Once a term there is also a 20-30 minute free group Zoom session( for regular clients) on something that I think will benefit you such as focusing on the hands or feet. One to one sessions available.

Chair Pilates

Chair Pilates allows more individuals to continue to do Pilates when the Mat no longer works for them. It is an alternative type of exercise that still gives your whole body a work out. Standing and seated options offered.As with all Pilates sessions you are encouraged to work within your range and abilities. Small classes allow me to plan to individual needs in the group. We are even known to go for an occasional coffee afterwards in the lovely Harrow Arts Centre! Once a term there is also a 20-30 minute free group Zoom session for regular clients on something that I think will benefit you such as focusing on the hands or feet. One to one sessions available.

Zoom classes are available if you still prefer to work out at home. Small classes allow me to plan classes to individuals and so I can see you clearly. Help can be given to set up your Zoom using either laptops, I pads or phones. There is chance to chat before and afterwards but for regular attendees as I do not see you in person  I make sure I catch up with you individually every 6 months on a 20 minute Zoom call included in the price to ensure your goals are being met. Once a term there is also a 20-30 minute free group Zoom session for regular clients on something that I think will benefit you such as focusing on the shoulders  or feet. One to one sessions also available.

Making a Positive Impact

I trained to become a Pilates teacher with JPilates after I noticed how benefical this form of exercise is. As a swimming teacher I noticed how it could complement not only swimming but many other sports to help with balance, alignment, flexibility, coordination and strength. When I worked as a Nurse I became aware of the importance of looking after our health as a whole to keep us well. Pilates was the answer for me. I could help people maintain and improve their health as well as support individuals in reaching their goals whether it was to win a marathon, regain strength after a hip operation or to help someone be able to open a jar of jam. Pilates offers so much to so many. I have done workshops and courses to enhance my teaching including hand and foot workshops, working with small equipment to make Pilates more varied as well as more effective, working with individuals with neurological conditions, bone health workshop and working with the older person.

I've been lucky enough to have been taking part in Karen's Pilates Zoom calls for a few months now. I've never done Pilates before but Karen explains everything really well and is always cautious to ensure we are doing moves correctly, which is reassuring as I have a history of back problems. Bambusa Pilates sessions have become the highlight of my week, not just for the physical changes that I can feel happening but also for my sanity during the lock down.

Karen is an amazing teacher and I can't recommend her highly enough.
